Philippine Robotics Team Conquers Global Stage in Greece, Wins Multiple Titles

Global Victory Delegates from Manaoag National High School proudly received their medals and trophies at the MRC Global Olympiad in Greece, celebrating their remarkable accomplishments and bringing pride and honor to the Philippines on the international stage.

The Philippine robotics team delivered a remarkable performance on the international stage, securing multiple top honors at the Minoan Robotsports Competition Global Olympiad 2026, held from April 3 to 6 in Greece.

Competing against top delegations from around the world, Team Philippines emerged as one of the strongest contenders, clinching four major world-ranked awards across highly competitive categories like Champion – E-Soccerbot Competition, Champion – E-SumoBot Competition, 2nd Place – Humanoid Wrestling Competition and 3rd Place – Archery Competition.

The victories underscore not only technical excellence but also the discipline, and determination.

The delegation was composed of students from Manaoag National High School, guided by coaches Hazel Elaine C. Armas and Vergil B. Esteves. They were supported by Head Teacher Manuel Jaime U. Vinuya and School Head Daisy S. Mayola, along with key education officials, including Education Program Supervisor Eddie M. Raguindin and Schools Division Superintendent Vivian Luz S. Pagatpatan.

Representing the Philippines were Jesfree R. Soriano, Joeshel T. Caspillan, Warlito P. Gacusan Jr., Brendon Ryan B. Esteves, Josh Andrei Q. Mendoza, and Leo Jake D. Wania. Their achievements reflect the rising potential of the next generation of Filipino engineers and technology leaders.

The team’s preparation and performance were strengthened through mentorship from Erovoutika International Academy, led by Overall Coach Engr. Dominik Niño. He shared that preparation began with selecting top student representatives through a rigorous national qualifying competition, followed by strategic planning, robot upgrades, and intensive hands-on training to ensure precision and reliability during matches.

“The most challenging part was developing the robots themselves. Competing internationally requires extensive research and development to ensure peak performance,” he said.

Head Teacher Manuel Jaime U. Vinuya described the event as a true clash of cultures and technologies, with teams from leading robotics nations.

“Beyond the gold trophies, the most memorable part was the strong local support. Our LGU’s assistance—from transportation to modest financial aid—meant a lot to us. That ‘baon’ from home represented the prayers and hopes of our entire town,” he shared.

He added key reflections for future teams: master the fundamentals first, build strong support systems with families, schools, and local leaders, and carry forward the belief that Filipino teams are not underdogs but emerging powerhouses in robotics with the right training and support.

Beyond competition, the delegation also proudly showcased Erobots (Erovoutika Robots)—Philippine-made robotic technologies—demonstrating the country’s growing capability in developing innovative, homegrown solutions for global challenges. In the coming years, Esoccerbot and Erobot Sumo categories are expected to be featured in Greece, further expanding the reach and recognition of these innovations on the international stage.

The team also made a courtesy visit to the Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines in Athens, where they were received by H.E. Giovanni E. Palec. The visit emphasized the importance of youth participation in strengthening the country’s global presence in science and technology.

The team’s participation was made possible through the support of Philippine Manufacturing Co. of Murata Inc. and the Technology Application and Promotion Institute, both of which continue to champion science and technology initiatives for Filipino youth.

As the team returns home, they carry not only medals but also a renewed sense of national pride—demonstrating that Filipino innovation can compete and succeed on the world stage.
