Young Innovators Take Center Stage as Manaoag NHS Holds Regional Robolution Ilocos

Manaoag National High School emerged as the champion of Robolution Ilocos Region 2025, a two-day celebration of innovation, robotics, and mathematics that brought together more than 500 students from 12 schools across the Ilocos Region. Held on September 29–30, 2025 at the Manaoag National High School campus, the event highlighted the creativity, technical skill, and teamwork of young innovators poised to tackle the challenges of the future.
The competition featured a wide range of categories that tested both theoretical knowledge and practical engineering skills. Students competed in E-Robo Quiz Bee and EroMath, which evaluated their understanding of robotics concepts and mathematical problem-solving. Hands-on challenges included Freestyle Robotics, where teams demonstrated creative and functional robot designs, MegaSumo V1 and Open Category battles that tested strategy and strength, Erovouthon Mobile-Controlled Levels 1 and 2 that required precise remote operation, and Line Following Versions 1 to 3, which challenged programming accuracy and speed.
Hon. Jeremy Agerico Rosario, one of the event’s special guests, visited the venue, recognizing the high level of dedication by the students.

Organizers noted that this year’s Robolution Regional marked one of the largest editions to date, with increased participation and more competitive entries than in previous years. Many robots presented by the teams demonstrated a level of technical sophistication and creative problem-solving rarely seen at regional competitions.
Teachers and coaches expressed pride in their students’ efforts, highlighting the value of experiential learning in STEM education. They observed that competitions like Robolution allow students to apply classroom knowledge to real-world challenges, work collaboratively, and improve their skills under pressure. Students themselves reported that the event encouraged learning and teamwork, with opportunities to exchange ideas, observe other teams, and refine their own strategies and designs.
Beyond the awards, this a platform for students to network and explore career pathways in robotics, engineering, and technology. The diversity of events allowed students with different strengths—whether in mathematics, programming, or creative design—to contribute meaningfully to their teams and showcase their talents. Organizers also emphasized that the competition helps schools strengthen STEM programs and encourages long-term investment in technical education.

The success of this event has prompted plans to expand Robolution Regional further in the coming years, including new competition categories, invitations to more schools from neighboring regions, and additional opportunities for students to explore innovation. Organizers aim to make Robolution an even bigger platform for learning and inspiration, empowering more students across Northern Luzon to develop their skills and prepare for future technological challenges.
Manaoag National High School claimed the top honor, receiving a cash prize, plaque, and token. Juan G. Macaraeg National High School earned first runner-up honors, while Ilocos Sur National High School took second runner-up. Organizers emphasized that the competition was not only about winning but also about encouraging collaboration, critical thinking, and innovative problem-solving among students.
As the two-day competition concluded, the energy and pride of participants, teachers, and organizers underscored the central message of Robolution Regional: the youth of Ilocos are ready to lead in innovation, creativity, and problem-solving. The event served not only as a celebration of achievement but also as a testament to the region’s commitment to cultivating the next generation of innovators and thinkers who will shape the future of technology in the Philippines.
